A Look Inside

THE TUG THAT LED TO A PLATFORM

Have you ever felt the tug, wondering about the impact your work has on the people it reaches? You’re not alone. The Inside Shift is a set of practical tools, a growing body of thinking, and a community for anyone shaping attention, behavior, and belief — built by someone still inside the work, still carrying the tug.

Meet The Creator

Hi, I’m Jessica

I'm a graphic designer, creative leader, and strategist with over two decades of experience, nearly half of it spent at the CDC designing public health communications.

From fairly early on in my career, a tug started following me: am I creating for the greater good or the greater harm? I can’t control the systems I create within, but I can control my own agency and integrity inside them.

This platform is the beginning of a new chapter for me — shifting from being a creator to connecting others to their agency inside the systems, roles, and themselves. I’m still learning what that looks like, and I’m building it in the open.

Why We Are Here

Philosophy

We are not outsiders observing systems of influence. We are practitioners inside them. Because we help build the experiences, environments, and narratives that shape other people’s lives, we have a responsibility to become conscious of that influence and use it with intention.

As the Center for Humane Technology and others have argued, human attention, something critical for human thriving, is being treated as a commodity. Awareness is an act of resistance. We may not always have the power to change the system, but we’re already positioned to act — even when that action is noticing.

An Invitation

Join the Shift

You’re invited to come inside, be seen, and join the movement that works for humanity from the inside out. It’s being created from inside the work and will always be evolving.

Let’s be honest, this isn’t a platform that assumes you can always choose the humane option. It’s for finding the margin of agency you still have, even when it’s small or feels non-existent.
